Obituary for William Richard Chicoine
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William Richard Chicoine, a beloved resident of Elk Point, SD, who tragically lost his life on Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 29 in North Sioux City, SD. William was 69 years old.
On that fateful day, William was driving his 2020 Ford Escape northbound on Interstate 29 when he slowed down due to congested traffic entering a construction zone. A 2013 Lexus, driven by David S. Jones and traveling at highway speeds, collided with the rear of William’s vehicle. The impact caused the Ford Escape to enter the median and roll over. The Lexus crossed the southbound lane and collided with a fence in the west ditch where it came to rest.
Both drivers were transported to a Sioux City hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, William succumbed to his injuries. David Jones sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
William was a devoted family man and a cherished member of the Elk Point community. Known for his kindness, warmth, and unwavering support for his loved ones, he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
