Why Study Engineering?

Why Study Engineering? As my computer screen lights up with my first ever program, it literally opens up a new world to me. Ever since that day, I have explored the different dimensions of this world, moving between languages like Python and Java, travelling from India to the US for robotics competitions and internships in artificial intelligence. During college, I hope to continue my nomadic exploration of new STEM ideas but take them to a different level.

What I want most from my undergraduate Computer Science degree is exposure to innovative ideas. It is so exciting to live in a time when technology can facilitate so much change.

Moreover, whether it’s in the realm of interpersonal communication or connecting ideas and places previously off the grid. Viterbi has been a cradle for revolutionary technologies for decades; from establishing the ‘DNS system that is essential. In addition, to internet functionality’. To undergirding the grid with computing infrastructure. To support the creation and operation of “virtual organizations”. As a foundation for collaboration and discovery.’ In this environment of ‘depth, breadth and dynamism’. I look forward to travelling between theoretical research and modelling prototypes, dabbling with core engineering and intelligent devices.

I believe that studying computer science in college will give me endless opportunities to interact with the world; delving deep into processes or exercising my creativity to frame solutions.

In conclusion, I hope my collegiate education will empower me. Moreover, to move beyond “hello” and become a part of the conversation on computer innovation.
