Why Did Youtube Remove Dislikes? People and internet watchers globally were stunned last week when Youtube decided to remove their dislike feature from their hugely popular platform.
Moreover, the internet rumor reason is that the White House asked Google and Google obliged. As a result of The White House having a disproportionate number of dislikes to likes. Furthermore, this high amount of dislikes to likes was obviously not a good look for many. Especially for The White House and used their political pressure on Google and Youtube.
However, the Youtube version is below:
At YouTube, we strive to be a place where creators of all sizes and backgrounds can find and share their voice. To ensure that YouTube promotes respectful interactions between viewers and creators, we introduced several features and policies to improve their experience. And earlier this year, we experimented with the dislike button to see whether or not changes could help better protect our creators from harassment, and reduce dislike attacks — where people work to drive up the number of dislikes on a creator’s videos.
We’re making the dislike counts private across YouTube, but the dislike button is not going away. This change will start gradually rolling out today.
Why Did Youtube Remove Dislikes? Was this really the reason. In corporate America today you really can’t trust anyone. Especially from large tech which seems to be keen to grab as much control as possible. Furthermore, a potential government breakup of Google is something they fear, so keping the White House and President Joe Biden on Google and Youtube’s good side is clearly a no brainer for upper management.
In conclusion, will we see an erosion of the platform due to this action? We shall see!
