What is the most popular room to remodel?
Living Room Renovations Dominate Home Makeover Trends, Study Reveals
Living rooms across America are getting a facelift, making it the top choice for homeowners looking to spruce up their spaces. According to a recent study by the photo wall tiles company, Storyboards, the living room takes the crown as the most popular renovation project, garnering a whopping 629,832 monthly searches.
The comprehensive study utilized Google search data to determine which areas of the home Americans were most keen on renovating. Bathrooms and kitchens closely trailed the living room, amassing 620,253 and 411,130 monthly searches, respectively.
Moreover, Louisiana residents are leading the charge in living room makeovers with 312 monthly searches per 100,000 residents. However, bathroom renovations seem to be a primary focus in Connecticut, with a significant 262 monthly searches per 100,000 people. Connecticut also topped the charts for kitchen renovation interest.
Not to be left behind, bedroom makeovers ranked fourth nationally, with New York residents showing the most interest. Furthermore, other notable mentions include backyard renovations, which were most popular in Nevada, and basement spruce-ups, led by Illinois.
While attics and home extensions rounded up the lower end of the list, Vermont and Hawaii respectively showed the most interest in these renovation areas.
Gavin Glick, Co-Founder of Storyboards, weighed in on the findings: “Home renovation and interior design trends are ever-evolving. Many homeowners aim to enhance their spaces either to boost property value or simply for personal comfort. The Northeastern states, particularly New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York, have shown a pronounced interest in home upgrades.”
As homeowners continue to reimagine their spaces, it’s clear that certain rooms, like the living room, remain at the heart of their renovation dreams.
