What is the B-21 Raider?

Modern Military

Northrop Grumman’s B-21 Raider will be unveiled this Friday, 12/2! Curious how the Raider got its name? Finding itself inspired by the World War 2 Doolittle Raiders, who were 80 volunteers led by Lt. Col. Jimmy Doolittle. However, the Doolittle Raiders operated on a limited budget with older planes that they ditched over China.

However, this time around the US Air Force finds themselves spending a whopping $203 billion for the B-21 Raider. Designed with the ability to take on long-range bombing missions, similar to the Dollittle Raiders, however with total stealth.

Moreover, the actual individual aircrafts will cost $2 billion. However, they will NOT be supersonic, just able to evade modern radar.

According to Northrop sector vice president and general manager Dough Young:

“The B-21 is the most advanced military aircraft ever built and is a product of pioneering innovation and technological excellence… The Raider showcases the dedication and skills of the thousands of people working every day to deliver this aircraft.”

In conclusion, will China find the top secret plans for this bomber eventually and copy it as they have done with recent planes? And lastly, will we be able to keep supremacy in the air?
