Thomas G. Sy is a Managing Director at New York Life Investments, where he leads the Multi Asset Solutions platform and serves as a core member of the firm’s digital asset strategy team. Based in New York, Sy oversees global investment strategies that allocate across multiple asset classes and investment structures, managing more than eleven billion dollars in diversified portfolios for institutional and strategic partners.
Within New York Life Investments, Sy has played a key role in developing the firm’s next generation investment capabilities. He currently co leads the development and execution of the firm’s digital asset strategy, helping position New York Life Investments to deliver its investment expertise through emerging on chain financial infrastructure and digital asset platforms.
Sy has spent more than fifteen years at New York Life Investments, where he has held several senior roles across alternative investments and multi asset portfolio management. As Managing Director of Multi Asset Solutions, he leads the design and management of global strategies that integrate equities, fixed income, alternatives, and private market exposures into comprehensive investment solutions tailored to institutional clients.
Earlier in his career at New York Life Investments, Sy served as Director of Alternatives Product Development and Director of Alternative Investments. In those roles he helped design and launch innovative alternative investment strategies, expanding the firm’s capabilities across hedge funds, private markets, and structured investment products.
Before joining New York Life Investments, Sy worked as a management consultant at Bridgewater Associates, where he gained exposure to global macro investment strategies and institutional portfolio management. Earlier in his career he worked at Morgan Stanley in strategic acquisitions and alliances and in alternative investment product development, where he helped build investment platforms for both institutional and retail clients. He also began his career at BlackRock within the firm’s Reinsurance Solutions Group.
Sy earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance from the Fordham University Gabelli School of Business. He also attended Valley Forge Military Academy earlier in his academic career.
