Since long ago, the positive impact of technology on the development of society and the world around it has been questioned. On the one hand, people need technology, as it is indispensable in our daily lives. We use transport when we go to school or work, microwaves and kettles when we cook. The importance of computers and televisions is needless to be mentioned. Due to countless research studies, society has comprehended the enhanced growth and development of the socio-economic field.

Yet, climate change is a controversial topic, as there are many opinions about its causes and solutions. Our future depends on how well we handle the changes today. That’s why the education system includes a variety of assignments on the climate issue. For instance, a message of climate change essay is one of them. Students may learn more about the environmental problem from different points of view by familiarizing themselves with the essay examples on this topic. Some of them are devoted to the issue of how to affect climate changes, while others contain info on the way genetic tools may be used to ease adaptation to it. Still, the question of whether the development of technology is a problem or a solution to climate change has not been found. So, we decided to analyze this topic and try to achieve a greater understanding of this problem.

Technology as a Cause of Climate Changes

In today’s world, most people have heard about the «solar economy,» which is written in books and used in the media. The term means that the energy derives from the sun in different ways possible. This procedure is safe for the environment in comparison to obtaining other materials such as oil and coal.

According to scientific sources, these were unlocked during the Industrial Revolution and caused climate warming. The issue lies in the burning process of oil, gas, and coal as it emits adverse greenhouse gasses which don’t allow heat to leave the earth’s atmosphere.

These facts confirm the indeterminacy of the extent to which the impact of technologies on climate change is acceptable to the environment. By getting the stores of energy, people help CO2 to build up in the atmosphere. It leads to an increase in the atmospheric temperature. Since the Industrial Revolution, the concentration of hazardous substances in the earth’s atmosphere has risen. It crossed the 380 ppm mark, given that the norm for the last 650,000 years has been no more than 300 ppm.

Technological Solutions to Climate Change

Technology has brought many changes to society and affected the environment in the past. It was all due to a lack of knowledge and research. Nowadays, scientists have found a wide range of alternative energy sources. Those already help reduce the concentration of hazardous substances in the atmosphere. Such resources belong to «renewable energy», examples of which are solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, and biomass options. Society has to follow certain rules that are stated below to help the issue:

  • reduce the reliance on cars and use more public transport;
  • use domestic energy efficiency;
  • shift to carbon-free stores of energy;
  • increase the amount of renewable energy by developing carbon storage and capture techniques.

Achieving a satisfactory result demands high costs and a long time. Yet, the chances for technologies to combat climate change are great. Society may become less dependent on carbon in the short-term perspective.

How Technology Prevents a Climate Change

Very often, global problems have their roots in completely different realms of human activity. Global warming as an environmental issue depends on the economy level, poverty, and the quality of life in society. Besides, the economy and development are based on advances in technology.

According to scientists, it can be argued that global warming is more of a socio-economic problem. It requires the well-coordinated work of society and technological development as a whole. The main key point is reducing the level of carbon use. Humanity has already done a lot of research that has helped find alternative sources of energy. They can provide a comfortable and safe future.

Conclusion

Analyzing the impact of technology, we can say that it balances between the two final ones. Roughly speaking, technology can fix the problems that they have created. Improving the environment, and in particular global warming, requires resorting to many changes. Society must show enough willpower and effort to go through the period of shifting from carbon. Switching to alternative energy sources like solar, hydro, wind has to be a priority.
