Suhani Bhatnagar, known for her role as the young Babita Phogat in the acclaimed film “Dangal,” has tragically passed away at the age of 19. She breathed her last on Friday in Delhi after a stay in the ICU. Moreover, as confirmed by AIIMS Delhi authorities to indianexpress.com on February 16.

The production company of Aamir Khan, with whom she shared the screen in “Dangal,” expressed its sorrow over her untimely demise. Furthermore, in a heartfelt message, the team conveyed their sympathy to her mother and family:

“The news of Suhani’s departure has left us in deep sorrow. Her presence was pivotal in ‘Dangal,’ and she shone brightly as a young talent and team player. She will forever be a shining star in our hearts. May her soul find eternal peace.”

Nitesh Tiwari, the director of “Dangal,” also paid tribute, noting the devastating nature of the news and remembering Suhani as a vivacious and joyous individual. His deepest sympathies went out to her bereaved family.

Zaira Wasim, who portrayed the role of Geeta Phogat alongside Suhani in “Dangal,” shared her disbelief and grief with Bombay Times. Recalling their time together during the film, she mentioned the immediate rush of memories and the bond they shared. Wasim’s thoughts were with Suhani’s parents during this difficult period, hoping for them to find fortitude.

Suhani had been recovering from an accident that occurred last year and had remained vibrant on social media, often sharing moments from “Dangal” promotions with co-stars Aamir Khan, Sanya Malhotra, Zaira Wasim, Fatima Sana Sheikh, and director Nitesh Tiwari. Her passing marks a solemn moment for the film community and all who admired her work.
