Two Orange County Men Killed in ATV Accident in Sullivan County
Sullivan County, NY – Two men from Orange County were tragically killed on Sunday, October 12, in an ATV accident in Lumberland. The incident occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. in the area of 196 Rio Dam Road, according to Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office Undersheriff Eric Chaboty.
The investigation revealed that Steven P. Quinn, 23, and John H. Brehm, 24, both of Sparrowbush, were riding a single four-wheel ATV westbound on Rio Dam Road when they struck a deer in the roadway. The impact caused the ATV to leave the pavement and collide with a tree. Both men were ejected upon impact.
Emergency service personnel responded to the scene and administered CPR, but despite their efforts, both Quinn and Brehm were pronounced dead shortly after by Sullivan County Coroner Alan Kesten.
The two men were reportedly on their way from a local hunting camp to assist a colleague in tracking a deer that had been shot earlier that day with a bow.
The tragic accident has left the community mourning the loss of two young men whose lives were cut short.
