Samantha Mait is an accomplished data science and operations leader with extensive experience in data-driven roles across multiple industries. Currently, she serves as the Data Science Operations Lead at Balyasny Asset Management, where she leads data initiatives to drive strategic insights and operational efficiency. Prior to this role, Samantha was the Manager of Equity Data Management at Balyasny, where she managed equity data processes and streamlined data strategies to optimize investment analysis.
With a strong foundation in data science, Samantha previously held roles as a Senior Investment Data Analyst and Investment Data Analyst at Balyasny. Her career began in technical positions where she developed advanced analytics and visualization solutions. At SpaceX, she served as a Data Specialist, analyzing employee life cycles to assess diversity and building the company’s first attrition dashboards. Her work improved SpaceX’s workforce data strategy, supporting data consistency and executive reporting.
Earlier in her career, Samantha worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at Arity, creating a patented model with a 0.97 AUC score, and at NASA’s SONIC Laboratory, where she developed an agent-based model for astronaut task-switching behavior.
