In a targeted strike last week on the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol, 34 Russian officers, including fleet commander Admiral Viktor Sokolov, were reported dead, with over a hundred more sustaining injuries. This information officially became confirmed by Ukraine’s Armed Forces’ Special Operations Forces Command on September 25.

Initial unconfirmed reports of Admiral Viktor Sokolov’s death had been circulating, but it wasn’t until recently that official confirmation from Ukrainian sources was provided.

The attack on September 22 led to substantial damage to the headquarters, as evidenced by satellite imagery from Planet.com. The assault, as reported by Sky News, was conducted using long-range Storm Shadow missiles.

Both Kyiv and Moscow have officially acknowledged the attack on the headquarters. In the aftermath, Kyrylo Budanov, the chief of Ukraine’s military intelligence, revealed in an interview with Voice of America that at least nine individuals lost their lives and 16 others were injured as a result of the strike.
