Tragic Wrong-Way Crash on Henry Hudson Parkway Claims Two Lives, Leaving Bride and Family Grieving
In the early hours of Saturday morning, tragedy struck on the Henry Hudson Parkway in Washington Heights when a pickup truck traveling the wrong way collided head-on with a Dodge sedan, claiming the lives of two people inside. The crash occurred just before 2:20 a.m. near 165th Street.
Kirk Walker, Jr., who was just days away from his wedding, and his 40-year-old cousin were both killed in the accident. Their lives were cut short by the senseless and devastating collision, leaving their families reeling from unimaginable grief.
“We’re all in disbelief,” said a family member, Weaver. “I feel like I’m watching a fictitious TV show. It doesn’t seem real to me.”
The pickup truck, which was heading southbound in the northbound lanes, crashed into the sedan, resulting in the fatalities. Authorities reported that both occupants of the pickup truck fled the scene. One of the suspects has been apprehended, but the driver remains at large, with police continuing their search.
This heartbreaking event has left a bride without her groom, and two families without their loved ones. Instead of celebrating what should have been a joyous occasion, family and friends gathered in Bergenfield, New Jersey on Sunday to mourn and offer condolences to the bereaved.
“I have faith in God. I hope you suffer the way I’m suffering,” Weaver shared, expressing the deep anguish felt by the families left behind.
