It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert Mark Nelson, aged 68, of Salem, Oregon, who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Tuesday, August 27th, 2024. Robert was riding a converted trike motorcycle when he struck a concrete barrier on the Salem-Dallas Highway. Despite being transported to Salem Health with life-threatening injuries, Robert succumbed to his injuries later that evening.
Robert was a devoted father, loving grandfather, and a cherished friend to many. He was known for his adventurous spirit and his love for motorcycles. Robert’s warmth, kindness, and generosity touched the lives of everyone who knew him. His passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his family and friends.
The Salem Police Department and emergency personnel responded to the scene, but there were no witnesses to the crash. The highway was closed for approximately two hours as authorities conducted their investigation.
