Who was Brandon Miller?
Brandon’s journey became marked by exceptional achievements. In addition, a profound impact on the real estate landscape, and a deep love for his family and community.
Brandon attended Brown University, where he distinguished himself both academically and socially. His time at Brown was the foundation for a lifetime of success and innovation in the real estate industry. Graduating with honors, Brandon quickly made a name for himself with his keen eye for detail, innovative designs, and a commitment to creating luxurious yet sustainable living spaces.
Brandon’s path into real estate became deeply influenced by his father, Michael Miller. A respected developer in his own right. Following in his father’s footsteps, Brandon embarked on his real estate career with passion and determination. His first significant success came with the renovation of a storefront in Union Square. This project marked his initial breakthrough, showcasing his talent for seeing potential where others did not. The Union Square renovation was not just a commercial success but also a testament to Brandon’s ability to blend historical charm with modern functionality, setting the tone for his future projects.
In 2004, Brandon joined Real Estate Equities Corporation (REEC) as the head of the acquisitions and finance department. Prior to joining REEC, he was in the commercial real estate group at Dillion Read Capital Management, where he originated over 1 billion dollars of commercial real estate loans. At REEC, Brandon quickly rose to the role of Managing Partner, where he originated a broad array of transactions, including value-add, ground-up, and repositioning of assets totaling in excess of several billion dollars.
Real Estate Equities Corporation, a family-owned development firm established in 1978 by Michael Miller, has successfully purchased or developed over 20 million square feet of real estate properties throughout the United States, representing several billion dollars in capitalized value. Today, the company was headed by Brandon Miller and Mark Seigel. Under their leadership, REEC has built a strong franchise with an impressive track record of New York City developments, including notable projects like 3 St. Marks Place, 196 Orchard, 1228 Madison, and many more.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Brandon was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Dalton alunus Candice Levy Miller. Together, they were a prominent and cherished couple in social circles, known for their philanthropy, grace, and the genuine warmth they shared with friends and acquaintances. Their partnership was a testament to love, mutual respect, and shared dreams.
Brandon’s legacy extends beyond the buildings he created; it lives on in the lives he touched and the community he helped shape. Survived by his wife, Candice, their children, family, friends, and colleagues who will forever cherish his memory.
Brandon resided in Tribeca with his family, a testament to his love for the city and its vibrant community.
Brandon Miller’s presence will become deeply missed. However, his contributions and the memories he created will remain a lasting testament to a life well-lived.
