With over a decade of leadership at Bridgewater Associates, this speaker currently serves as Head of Equities Investment Engineering, overseeing the design, architecture, data systems, and investment logic behind the firm’s equity strategies. His current focus includes systematic long/short single-name equities, portfolio construction, and risk management, working closely with CIOs and strategy leads.
Previously co-led the team managing long/short equities in Bridgewater’s Pure Alpha fund and played a key role in shaping the firm’s approach to micro equities research and systemization. Prior roles included leading trading system development during a major multi-year upgrade that expanded instrument coverage and boosted trade capacity globally.
Before joining Bridgewater, serving as CTO of Lightspeed Studios, one of Canada’s largest data mining startups, and also ran an independent quant trading book. He holds a PhD and MSc in Computer Science from the University of Ottawa with a research focus on robotics, AI, and real-time systems, and earned his BSc magna cum laude from the University of Arkansas, where he also played NCAA Division I football as a defensive lineman.
