Standing at 6-foot-5 and 270 pounds, Stensrud was a dominant force on the field during his career at Iowa State from 1974 to 1978. Known for his incredible ability to disrupt opponents’ running games and pressure quarterbacks, Stensrud tallied an impressive 306 career tackles, a remarkable achievement for a defensive lineman. His performance earned him two First-Team All-Big Eight honors.
Stensrud was a key catalyst behind the resurgence of Iowa State football during the late 1970s. His leadership on defense helped propel the Cyclones to back-to-back bowl appearances, including the 1977 Peach Bowl and the 1978 Hall of Fame Bowl.
