Mike Purewal is the Head of AI for Equities Technology at Millennium, where he drives cutting-edge machine learning solutions for one of the world’s leading hedge funds. With nearly two decades of experience spanning trading technology, risk management, and data science, Mike has built a career at the intersection of quantitative research and practical market impact.

Before joining Millennium in 2023, Mike spent over 12 years at Bank of America, ultimately serving as Head of Markets Data Science. There, he led AI initiatives for Equities Sales & Trading, developed ML-driven securities lending optimization tools, and built regulatory risk models that streamlined operations and boosted revenue. His earlier roles included work as a Risk Quant, Model Risk Manager, and Data Scientist, giving him a full-stack understanding of market data pipelines, analytics, and governance.

An educator and advisor as well, Mike served as an Adjunct Professor at NYU Tandon School of Engineering for five years, teaching Machine Learning in Finance. He has advised startups through QuantEssential LLC and served on the CRAFT_NSF advisory board. Mike earned his PhD in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics from Columbia University, producing 10 high-impact publications with ~2,000 citations, and holds a BS in Engineering Physics from Lehigh University, graduating with Highest Honors.
