A 43-year-old woman, identified as Melisa Van Hoorne, was killed on Friday morning after crashing her vehicle into a school bus in Lancaster, California. The accident occurred around 7 a.m. in the 1700 block of Columbia Way, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation, but officials confirmed that Van Hoorne died at the scene due to multiple blunt force injuries, as determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. Fortunately, the school bus involved in the crash was only occupied by the driver, who was not injured.

This was the second fatal crash involving a school bus in Los Angeles County on the same day, following a similar tragic incident involving a cyclist in Lakewood.

Authorities are continuing to investigate both accidents.
