Marty Burger Silverstein Properties CEO Jumps
Renowned real estate executive Marty Burger, previously the CEO of Silverstein Properties, has unveiled his latest venture, Infinity Global Real Estate Partners. Announcing this move just four months after hinting at new opportunities following his departure from Silverstein Properties, Burger steps in as the CEO of the new firm. Infinity Global is set to concentrate on various real estate domains including development, acquisitions, financing, and fund management throughout the United States. This initiative is in partnership with Andrew Farkas’ Island Capital Group.
Infinity Global Real Estate Partners aims to specialize in transforming office spaces into residential units, along with revitalizing under-capitalized operating properties. This strategy aligns with Burger’s experience at Silverstein Properties, where he was involved in similar conversion projects, notably partnering with Nathan Berman for the residential transformation of 55 Broad Street in the Financial District.
The firm is also poised to embark on ambitious mixed-use development projects and establish a debt platform. This platform will provide financial support for operating properties and construction loans, addressing a significant demand in the commercial real estate sector, especially in the context of the current reticence of traditional banking institutions to extend loans in this area.
Reflecting on his new role, Burger expressed enthusiasm about launching Infinity Global, citing the timing within the real estate cycle as particularly opportune.
Marty Burger’s impressive career trajectory in the real estate industry spans several high-profile positions. Before joining Silverstein in 2010 and becoming its CEO in 2012, he was at the helm of Artisan Real Estate Ventures, a company he founded. His extensive experience includes significant roles at Related Companies and The Blackstone Group. Notably, his tenure at Related included responsibilities as President of Related Las Vegas and Executive Vice President of The Related Companies, L.P.
Burger’s academic and professional affiliations are equally noteworthy. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. His involvement extends to numerous esteemed organizations and advisory boards, including the Urban Land Institute, the Zell/Lurie Real Estate Center at the Wharton School, and the Center for Real Estate and Finance at Cornell University, among others. Additionally, he has played a role in various civic and industry-related committees and boards in New York City.
Marty Burger’s venture into Infinity Global Real Estate Partners marks a significant new chapter in his illustrious career, positioning the firm as a potential key player in the evolving landscape of the U.S. real estate market.
