Mark Fleming-Williams is Head of Data Sourcing at Capital Fund Management (CFM), a leading quantitative asset management firm based in Paris. Since joining CFM in November 2022, he has led the firm’s global efforts to identify, evaluate, and integrate novel data sources that enhance systematic investment strategies. His role sits at the intersection of data strategy, vendor relations, and quantitative research, making him a key driver of innovation within one of the most data-driven asset managers in the world.
In addition to his leadership at CFM, Mark is the long-standing host of The Alternative Data Podcast, one of the most recognized platforms dedicated to exploring the fast-evolving world of alternative data. Since 2020, he has interviewed leading investors, data providers, and thought leaders, helping to shape and inform industry conversations on how alternative datasets are reshaping investment decision-making.
Before CFM, Mark served as Director at Exabel, a data analytics and insights platform for financial institutions. At Exabel, he worked on bridging the gap between raw alternative data and actionable investment intelligence, helping clients derive value from complex datasets. Earlier in his career, he was a Senior Analyst at Stratfor (now part of RANE), where he specialized in global economic and European analysis, leading teams in research, forecasting, and client advisory work.
Mark holds a Master’s degree in Business Analytics and Big Data from IE School of Science and Technology, where he built expertise in machine learning, data visualization, and digital transformation. He also earned an MSc in International Business with distinction from Leeds University Business School. His academic foundation, combined with his diverse professional experience, has given him a unique blend of geopolitical, economic, and technical perspectives on data.
Based in Paris, Mark continues to drive the evolution of data sourcing in quantitative finance while fostering broader dialogue through his podcast and thought leadership in the industry.
