Victim Identified in Fatal Truck Crash Near Newark, Arkansas
NEWARK, AR — Arkansas State Police have identified the victim of a fatal truck crash that took place early Tuesday morning near the OMP Feed Mill. According to the state police fatality report, the crash occurred at approximately 4:39 a.m. on State Highway 69.
The accident happened when a southbound Kenworth truck collided with the trailer of a Peterbilt truck, which was attempting to make a left turn onto the highway from a private drive to head north. After the collision, both vehicles came to a stop on the highway, and the Peterbilt’s trailer caught fire.
The driver of the Kenworth, identified as 49-year-old Malcolm Hix of Batesville, was killed in the crash. The incident is under investigation as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
