Carlsbad, CA — Authorities have identified the pedestrian killed in a suspected DUI crash earlier this week as 23-year-old Karla Stephanie Levya. The tragic incident occurred around 12:37 a.m. on Tuesday in the 2200 block of Las Palmas Drive, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Levya had just parked her vehicle and exited when a Volkswagen Jetta, reportedly driven by 26-year-old Jose Manuel Zambrano Cruz, failed to negotiate a curve and struck both her and her parked vehicle. Levya was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
