Joann Martin Hinton Iowa Obituary
A tragic two-vehicle crash on Highway 75 south of Hinton in Plymouth County resulted in the death of one person on Wednesday morning. The Iowa State Patrol and Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office reported that the accident occurred just before 10:35 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Highway 75 near the C-70 intersection at James.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 64-year-old Joann Martin of Hinton was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of U.S. 75 from C-70 to turn south when her vehicle was struck by a semi-truck driven by 53-year-old Scott Mitchell of Hornick. The semi collided with the left side of Martin’s vehicle, causing both vehicles to cross into the southbound lanes.
The semi-truck overturned, blocking the roadway, leading to the closure of the southbound lanes for several hours. Traffic was detoured onto C-60 at Hinton while authorities cleared the scene.
The crash remains under investigation as officials work to understand the full circumstances of the accident.
