Fundraiser by Samuel Emmett : Honoring Jacob Pratt: A Loving Farewell Fund (gofundme.com)

Jacob Rey Pratt, born on November 14, 1983, in New Mexico, passed away on September 18, 2024, in Logan, Utah. His sudden departure has left a profound sense of loss among his family and friends, but his memory is cherished by those who knew him as a loving son, brother, husband, father, and friend.

Jacob faced great challenges early in life, overcoming spinal meningitis at a young age, which left him without his hearing but never diminished his fighting spirit. He grew up in Montana, where he cultivated a love for the outdoors, especially hiking in Glacier National Park. His deep connection to nature and bears was symbolic of his unwavering loyalty and love for his family and passions.

In 2004, Jacob answered the call to serve the deaf community on a mission in California. He embraced this calling, joyfully writing home, “I found my people, Mom!” The deaf community affectionately named him “J-Bear” for his big-hearted spirit and dedication. It was during this time that he met his future wife, Elizabeth Macari. They were married in the Mesa Temple in 2007 and shared 17 years of love, teamwork, and joy, raising three beautiful children together—Heidi, Joshua, and Kira.

Jacob’s love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life. He was a dedicated father, known for his infectious dad jokes and unwavering presence at his children’s events. His passion extended to serving his community through his faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and through his work as an HVAC technician at JM Mechanical, where he was a valued and respected team member.
