Jack Davey Auburn Obituary

October 30, 2024

The Auburn South Primary School community in Melbourne is mourning the loss of 11-year-old Jack Davey, who tragically died following a devastating car crash on the school grounds on Tuesday afternoon. What should have been a typical, sunny day at school turned into a heartbreaking scene when a white Toyota SUV plowed through the school’s fence and into a group of students sitting around an outdoor table near the soccer pitch.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m., just before the usual school pick-up time. According to police reports, the female driver of the vehicle had just picked up a child from the school and was attempting a U-turn when the collision happened. Jack Davey sustained critical injuries and passed away while being transported to the hospital.

Four other students—three girls and one boy, aged between 10 and 11—were also seriously injured in the crash and remain in the hospital. As of Wednesday evening, all four children were reported to be in stable condition, according to Monash Health and the Royal Children’s Hospital.

The community is grappling with the profound shock and grief of this tragedy. Parents, teachers, and students are coming together in mourning, while authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident. The event has deeply affected those involved, and support is being offered to help them cope with this unimaginable loss.
