Is Secrets of Dumbledore related to Harry Potter?
We watched the new installment in the Fantastic Beasts series. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore and our review is below:
Firstly, we must start on the positive. There are faints and glimmers of a good movie. In addition, this is clearly the best of the Fantastic Beasts series. Furthermore, the new Gridelwald actor, Mads Dittmann Mikkelsen, a Danish actor, who was originally a gymnast and dancer. Bring life and a certain unique passion and style to the role. One a life-less Johnny Depp lacked.
However, the best parts of the movie were few and far between.
Jude Law delivers an absolutely bland performance of Albus Dumbledore. Not, a performance worthy of the original series. But, even if Jude Law had delivered one of his stellar performances. Such as in ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ it wouldn’t have mattered.
The movie presented its plot in such a mishmash. That no one acting performance could have turned the needle. This was a movie relying on special effects. Which were good. But rather pointless. Unlike the flying dog in The Never Ending Story, who emits emotion. None of the special effects creatures really do much for me.
In conclusion, if you are thirsting for Harry Potter. Really anything Potter, as we are. This movie will slightly wet your appetite. But, lastly, expect to finish feeling disappointed.
