How do you wrap a gift cheaply?
Wrapping the Presents
A gift with a proper wrapping has a lot of differences compared to a store-packing gift. From an overall look to tiny details, a handmade gift is a token of love and concerns for treasured individuals. In my desk drawer, I got some short pencils, a silver scissor, and salmon-pinkish wrapping paper. They have been lying there quietly for ages, like hibernating creatures, waiting for sunlight to shine in their places. Now it is time for them to wake, since I take all of them out for my wrapping process.
The first thing is flatting the wrapping paper on my desktop. During the motion, I realize that there is something special with the paper’s surface. The wrapping paper has a certain smoothness, which reminds me of the soft taste of an ice cream. In the next step, the present box gets the opportunity to meet the paper. I take a sharpened pencil to draw a faint line on the paper near the box edge. It is the time to cut! With each movement of my scissors, a crispy sound comes out, which feels like the scissors are having a sweet little duet with the paper.
Throughout the effort completing the cutting process, the harmonic sound of scissors and paper. Also rings the most beautiful bell in my heart.
After cutting, let the paper wrap around the four sides of the present box and then stabilize the paper with a piece of transparent tape. Now the work resembles the form of a rocket, with a neat barrel body but two open heads, so a folding process is necessary. In order to make the wrapping symmetrical. Each side should be folded in an exactly same way but in opposite directions. After a while, my fingers get covered by the scent. That comes out from the paper ink. The mild smell, together with a slight sense of achievement acts as a precious reward for the wonderful preparation of a gift for a friend. Finally, I fix the two sides with a few pieces of tape to finish the last step. Through the tiredness of wrapping, there comes pleasure.
Knowing that the gift is prepared for someone important and special. Joy fills me up. Like a huge glass of warm water with honey.
