It is with deep sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Heather Hayward, 41, of Cairo, Georgia, who was killed in a shooting early Tuesday morning, July 30, 2024. Heather was one of two victims in the incident near 7th Avenue NW and 4th Street NW, close to Azalea Park.

Heather was a beloved daughter, mother, and friend. She leaves behind two teenage sons, both in high school, and a 23-year-old daughter who recently became a mother herself. Her family described Heather as a sweet, caring individual who would do anything for her loved ones. Her father, Glenn Faircloth, expressed his heartbreak over her untimely death, saying, “It’s hard to believe. You sit there and think this is my child, I can’t hardly believe she isn’t here. I won’t get to hear her say, ‘Dad, I love you.'”

Moreover, Heather’s kindness and dedication to her family were evident in all she did. She will become deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
