After downloading FaceApp, I immediately uploaded my own picture using the Old HD filter. After 2 to 3 seconds, the old me appeared on the screen. Which was pretty surprising and kind of scared me. Also testing the Old HD filter on some demo pictures. I found that the AI method could analyze the little wrinkles and the specific features on faces and exaggerate them. Which gave users a picture of being old.

However, when you google FaceApp, among the top 20 articles, you will find over 12 articles about the dangers of FaceApp. This Russian app will let the app access the users’ albums. Moreover, collect the uploaded photos to provide more testing samples for the AI filter.

This is certainly a dilemma, because the users also enjoy the free app. If you still would like to try it or you already use FaceApp. Maybe there is a way to protect your rights. FaceApp allows users to submit written requests through to erase their records.
