Emmanuel Meeks Lawton Obituary
Lawton Police have identified 19-year-old Emmanuel Meeks as the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred early Wednesday morning. The incident took place around 3:30 a.m. in the area of Northwest 57th Street and Ash Avenue.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Meeks injured and unresponsive from a gunshot wound in the 5300 block of Northwest Ash Avenue. According to Lt. Charles Whittington, the Lawton Police information officer, officers immediately began life-saving measures. Meeks was rushed to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
This tragic incident marks the city’s ninth homicide of the year, adding to a growing concern within the community. Lawton Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, seeking justice for Emmanuel Meeks and his grieving family.
