Dr Eren Kurshan Head of AI/ML Research & Methodology Morgan Stanley

Eren is an AI researcher (h-index:32, i-index:82) focused on developing novel AI/ML solutions for industrial applications. She led the development of the first in-house AI/ML models for Bank of America’s payment systems processing over 50 MM peak real-time transaction volume per channel per day (including Credit transactions, Debit/ATM, P2P Payments, Alert Processing and Prioritization etc). Prior to her role at Bank of America, Eren served in various AI/ML/Innovation roles at Columbia University, J.P. Morgan Corporate and Investment Bank and IBM. She was the Chief of Staff to IBMs Global Chief Innovation Officer and technical strategist in JPMorgan’s CIO’s office.

During 2015-2016 she was a Visiting Fellow at Princeton University Center for Information Technology Policy and served as an Adjunct Professor of Computer Science at Columbia University between 2014-2020. Eren received her Ph.D. in Theoretical Computer Science and Applied Algorithms from University of California Los Angeles and holds a Masters degree in Computer Science and Bachelors in Electrical Engineering. She has published over 70 peer reviewed technical conference/journal publications , holds over 100 patents and 200 filings (in system design, computer architecture, AI, Machine learning, neuromorphic computing, system optimization), and was the recipient of 2 Best Paper Awards from IEEE and ACM Conferences, and Outstanding Research and Corporate Accomplishment Awards from IBM. Dr. Kurshan is a Distinguished Speaker of the ACM and a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE.
