Two Maine Residents Killed in Tragic Pedestrian-Train Collision in Liberal
Liberal, KS – A heartbreaking accident claimed the lives of two pedestrians from Bangor, Maine, on Sunday night in Liberal. According to officials, the victims were identified as Adam J. Flores, 61, and Deanna M. Flores, 42, who were tragically struck by a train while crossing railroad tracks.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:05 p.m. near the intersection of S. Western Avenue and W. Pancake Boulevard (US-54), on the southwest side of Liberal. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Adam Flores was pushing Deanna Flores, who was in a wheelchair, across the Union Pacific Railroad tracks when the crossing arms were down and warning signals were activated.
Both individuals were struck by the oncoming train and pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries were reported among the train crew.
