St. Louis Officer Dies After Being Hit by Car While Assisting at Crash Scene
A St. Louis police officer, David Lee, tragically died on Sunday morning after being struck by a car while responding to an earlier accident call. The incident occurred around 8:50 a.m., according to KMOV.
Officer Lee, an 18-year veteran of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, was helping stage at the scene of a prior crash on the interstate when he was hit by an oncoming vehicle. Despite being rushed to a hospital, Lee succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities reported that the driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and has been detained for further questioning.
The St. Louis police have since closed the road and are continuing their investigation into the tragic event.
