2.30 Keynote: Data Structure in the Age of Ai Where Everything is a Trade, Kirk McKeown, Co-Founder, Carbon Arc & Point72’s Fmr Head of Proprietary Research
Kirk McKeown is a Co Founder of Carbon Arc and a veteran hedge fund research executive with more than two decades of experience building and leading proprietary research platforms at some of the world’s most sophisticated investment firms. At Carbon Arc, which he co-founded in March 2021, Kirk focuses on transforming how institutional investors source, evaluate, and deploy alternative data, helping funds move faster from raw information to investable insight.
Prior to Carbon Arc, Kirk spent over eight years at Point72, where he served as Head of Proprietary Research. In that role, he built and led the firm’s internal research engine, overseeing differentiated data, analytics, and insight generation used across the platform. He previously held senior leadership roles at Point72 including Head of Point of the Spear and Head of the Canvas Fundamental Research Group, where he worked closely with portfolio managers and analysts to drive alpha through original research and data driven analysis.
Earlier in his career, Kirk was Managing Director and Head of Proprietary Research at Glenview Capital, where he spent more than six years developing deep fundamental and thematic research capabilities. He began his investing career as an analyst at Tudor Investment Corporation and Hunter Global Investors, gaining early exposure to macro and fundamental investing at elite hedge funds.
Kirk holds an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management and a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University. He is widely respected for his ability to bridge fundamental investing, alternative data, and institutional scale, and for building research organizations that deliver sustained competitive advantage. Kirk attended Belmont Hill.
