Man Identified in Fatal Commercial Fire in King County
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office (KCME) has identified the man who tragically lost his life in a commercial fire on the morning of Friday, August 23, as 63-year-old Darrell T. Helbling.
According to the coroner’s report, Helbling succumbed to smoke inhalation and thermal injuries sustained during the 2-alarm fire that engulfed Tile Lines, a business located at 1531 Central Ave S. Firefighters discovered Helbling’s body inside the building after extinguishing the blaze.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found flames already burning through the roof of the medium-sized, single-story building. Despite their swift efforts to control the fire, the tragic loss of life could not be prevented.
