Let’s dive in!

Having just graduated from the University of Oklahoma, I find myself reminiscing about my life there. Initially, I found the environment quite monotonous, lacking in recreational facilities, which compelled me to concentrate solely on my studies. This focus, however, turned out to be a blessing in disguise. It led to a disciplined routine that revolved around the dormitory, the gym, and the library. This simple, three-point life, while initially mundane, contributed significantly to my academic improvement and physical fitness.

Amidst this routine, I discovered small joys that made life at Oklahoma truly special. Playing guitar in the quiet of my dorm and watching the breathtaking sunsets became cherished activities. I would often drive to a quaint local spot, Boomerlake, and spend hours there, lost in music and the serene beauty of the lake.

The University of Oklahoma’s student union was a haven for food enthusiasts like myself. It boasted an array of dining options, including a mouth-watering Italian dish – the meatball marinara – which quickly became a favorite. The campus also offered a taste of authentic country BBQ, rivaling even the famed Texas barbecue in flavor and satisfaction.

The spirit of camaraderie among students at Oklahoma State University (OSU) is palpable. The community is incredibly friendly, polite, and always ready to lend a helping hand. The warm, welcoming vibe is reminiscent of an Oklahoma summer – comforting and vibrant.

One of the unique aspects of life at OSU is the deeply ingrained sense of pride and tradition. The color orange, symbolizing enthusiasm, is a staple at the university. It represents not just a color but an embodiment of the cowboy spirit that permeates the campus. Game days are particularly exhilarating, transforming the entire campus into a lively hub of unity and excitement. The post-victory fireworks at the stadium are a sight to behold, celebrating the Cowboys’ triumph in grandeur.

The cost of living as a student at the University of Oklahoma is relatively affordable compared to many other universities. On average, students can expect to spend around $10,000 to $15,000 annually on living expenses, including accommodation, food, and personal costs. This estimate can vary based on lifestyle and personal choices.

The local food scene around the university is diverse and rich. Thus, offering something for every palate. From traditional American diners to international cuisines, the options are plentiful and reasonably priced for students.

Attractions around the university add to the vibrant student life. From the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History to the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, there are ample opportunities for cultural enrichment. The nearby Lake Thunderbird State Park provides a perfect getaway for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Now, 8,000 kilometers away from Oklahoma, I realize the profound impact those years have had on me. The initial boredom gave way to a life filled with small joys, academic rigor, and a sense of belonging to the cowboy family. It’s a unique experience – one that shapes you quietly yet profoundly. Life in Stillwater may start uneventfully, but it gradually unfolds into a rewarding journey filled with growth, community, and lasting memories.
