The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is one of India’s premier technical institutions, widely recognized for the high standard of its educational programs and research activities. Established in 1961, IIT Delhi has been pivotal in providing a strong foundation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in India.
When discussing the cost of attending, it is important to remember that tuition costs are highly subsidized by the Government of India for Indian nationals.

As such, the cost of attending for these students is relatively low when compared to similar tier institutions globally. However, the costs are higher for international students. The cost of living in Delhi can be variable, with options to suit different budgets, but it is generally lower compared to many western countries.

IIT Delhi alumnus Sumit Phogat told us:
” IIT Delhi has undoubtedly emerged as the leading IIT in India, with a remarkable track record of producing successful unicorn startups. In fact, I had the privilege of being an executive board member of the Entrepreneurship club of IIT Delhi (eDC) for 3 years, an experience that deeply enriched my understanding of the startup ecosystem. I vividly remember attending the event where John Kerry addressed the students at IIT Delhi. I couldn’t resist sharing a photo I took during that event.”
IIT Delhi maintains a strict entrance examination (JEE Advanced) which ensures the selection of some of the best students in the country. The competition is fierce, with millions of students vying for a few thousand spots across the IIT system. Hence, the student quality at IIT Delhi is exceptional.
With regard to class size, while some of the introductory courses may have large class sizes due to the number of students, advanced-level classes often have a lower student to faculty ratio, promoting better interaction and learning.

Rendezvous is back, with a bigger bang!!!
IIT Delhi encourages students to delve into research. Many undergraduate students participate in research projects and publish their findings in reputed journals. There are also opportunities for students interested in programming and AI, with several courses, clubs, and events focused on these areas.
While IIT Delhi may not have a large endowment like some western universities, the government funding it receives allows it to maintain a strong research program.
