My grandfather played a crucial role in sparking my interest in pursuing my undergraduate degree at DJ Sanghvi College of Engineering. He was a distinguished veteran at Air India, serving as the chief commander of Boeing 747.
His experience fueled my fascination with airplanes, particularly the technical aspects behind their operation.
Wanting to stay close to my grandfather, I began researching colleges in Mumbai that offered comprehensive programs related to aviation. That’s when I discovered DJ Sanghvi College of Engineering. Upon reaching out to professors in the mechanical department, I learned about the eight collegiate teams involved in national and international competions.
The aero modeling team, DJS Skylark, caught my attention as they participated in prestigious international competitions organized by top firms like Lockheed Martin and Boeing.
Without hesitation, I applied to the third-best engineering college in Mumbai, and fortunately, my grades and entrance exam scores secured my admission.
Life as a student at DJ Sanghvi College of Engineering has been a continuous upward journey. The college stands renowned for its successful track record in preparing students with strong technical backgrounds and sending a significant number to reputed universities abroad.
What sets DJ Sanghvi apart is its emphasis on allowing students to explore beyond the confines of regular academia!
As a result, fostering leadership skills and teamwork. The mechanical department, in particular, has garnered attention from councils like the National Assessment and Accreditation Council for the remarkable models developed by students. Teams have achieved podium finishes globally, from super mileage vehicles to rovers.
Personally, my involvement with the aero modeling team went beyond academic projects. It provided me with valuable professional experience, from being a team member in junior year to assuming a leadership role in senior year and representing the country. Leading a team of 28 members through manufacturing and testing eight full prototypes was a challenging yet rewarding experience. Furthermore, I became involved in every aspect of the team. Moreover, from negotiating with university administration to training younger members and overseeing aircraft specifications.
This experience marked my first foray into risk management!
In addition, exposed me to data visualization through probability distributions while working on the design report for competitions. Despite becoming pushed to my limits, I gained invaluable knowledge that transcended the classroom.
In my managerial role, I found myself yearning for strong quantitative techniques. As a result, leading me to pursue a master’s in Operations Research at Columbia University. My coursework cultivated a keen interest in finance, prompting me to combine my passions and pursue a career as a financial quant. Being in New York provides an ideal environment to leverage the skills gained from my previous experiences with big data and relevant projects, giving me a solid foundation in this field.
With these experiences and aspirations, I aim to make meaningful contributions in the realm of quantitative finance armed with a diverse skill set and a passion for data-driven decision-making.

Dwarkadas Jivanlal Sanghvi College of Engineering, commonly referred to as D. J. Sanghvi, is an esteemed engineering institution located in the bustling locale of Vile Parle, Mumbai. This academic establishment came into existence courtesy of the Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal in the year 1994.
The institution is christened in honor of Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi, a notable figure in the industrial domain, particularly recognized for his role in the creation of the Wilson Fountain Pen. The college has, since its inception, earned the distinction of autonomous status, which it began to enjoy starting from the academic session of 2018-19.
D. J. Sanghvi College of Engineering is structured into eight departments.
Thus, each offering undergraduate programs in Bachelor of Engineering with a collective annual enrolment capacity of 600 bright minds. The selection process is strictly merit-based, with provisions for a special quota that facilitates the admission of students from the Gujarati-speaking minority under slightly relaxed merit parameters. The Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra, oversees the digitalized admission procedure.

This center for learning boasts a collection of around 17,000 volumes. Alongside 70 printed journals and magazines, both national and international. Students and faculty also have access to four comprehensive online databases that include IEEE, IEL Online, ASME, ACM, and Springer Link. Ensuring that they remain at the cutting edge of technological advancements and academic research.

Typically taking place in the months of February or March. Trinity attracts engineering students from all across Mumbai, featuring a plethora of activities that range from dance competitions and lastly fashion shows to intellectually stimulating talks, gaming events, and a celebration of traditional attire.
