Born on November 9, 1959, in Sanford, Florida, Riggins attended Seminole High School before joining Bethune-Cookman College. His impact on the field earned him recognition among his peers, including Bernard Hawk, Bethune-Cookman’s all-time passing leader, who fondly remembered Riggins as a “gentle giant” who helped pave the way for future players.

Riggins’ talents extended beyond college football. In 1982, he was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the ninth round of the NFL Draft (237th overall). His professional career spanned across several teams, including the Washington Redskins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also played for the Tampa Bay Bandits and Orlando Renegades in the United States Football League (USFL), demonstrating his versatility and skill as a defensive lineman.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 28 at House of Refuge in his hometown of Sanford, Florida, at 10 a.m., where family, friends, and the Bethune-Cookman community will gather to honor his life and legacy.

In conclusion, we offer our love and compassion to the family in the coming days and weeks. In addition, years. Moreover, this pain never ends for most, one must accept such. Furthermore, often families request privacy. However, almost always, support during this incredibly difficult time. Lastly, this spirit will become deeply missed and forever remembered. Thus, for the kindness and joy brought into the lives of those around. Lastly, lastly, God bless!
