Can Wells Fargo be trusted?
Business
Here are some things you can consider to determine if you can trust a bank:
FDIC insurance: The bank should find itself insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). This means that deposits up to a certain amount (currently $250,000 per depositor) become insured by the government in case the bank fails.

Financial stability: Look at the bank’s financial statements and ratings to assess its financial stability. The bank’s financial strength and stability are important factors in determining whether you can trust it with your money.
This one again we find tough to answer, see the chart below to see for yourself how Wells’ financial status stacks up to their competitors!
Transparency: A trustworthy bank should be transparent about its fees, terms, and conditions. Make sure you understand the terms of your account and ask questions if anything is unclear.
One act in particular we find quite troubling:
“The Wells Fargo cross-selling scandal is a controversy brought about by the creation of millions of fraudulent savings and checking accounts on behalf of Wells Fargo clients without their consent. News of the fraud became widely known in late 2016 after various regulatory bodies, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), fined the company a combined US$185 million as a result of the illegal activity. The company faces additional civil and criminal suits reaching an estimated $2.7 billion by the end of 2018.[1] The creation of these fake accounts continues to have legal, financial, and reputational ramifications for Wells Fargo and former bank executives as recently as November 2022.[2][3]“(wiki)
Customer service: A bank with good customer service as a result, is more likely to be trustworthy. Additionally, consider the bank’s responsiveness, professionalism, and willingness to help you with any issues or concerns.
We can’t complain here, big check, customer service we find quite decent!
Regulatory compliance: The bank should comply with all relevant banking regulations and laws. Furthermore, check if the bank has had any regulatory sanctions or legal issues in the past.

Accessibility: A trustworthy bank should have convenient and accessible locations, ATMs, and online banking services.
