October 30, 2024

The Watertown school community came together on Tuesday night to honor and remember Cameron “Cam” Gianconna, a 16-year-old high school junior who tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle last Thursday. The vigil took place in the high school auditorium, where students, family, and friends gathered to pay tribute to Cam’s life.

Dressed in purple and black, the colors of the Watertown Cyclones, attendees lit candles and reflected on Cam’s vibrant personality and the impact he had on those around him. Known for his strong faith, love of video games, motorcycles, and passion for football, Cam was cherished by his peers and family.

A special moment came when the Watertown High School varsity football team, a significant part of Cam’s life, presented his family with a jersey bearing his name. The gesture was particularly meaningful, as Cam had been deeply involved with the team and spent much of his time in the weight room, working hard to be a part of the school’s football legacy.

As the ceremony came to a close, the football team lined up to share their condolences with the Gianconna family, offering heartfelt support during this incredibly difficult time. Cam’s memory continues to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
