Drive-By Shooting in Northeast Houston Leaves 3 Dead, 6 Injured
Houston, TX — Houston police are searching for the suspects responsible for a drive-by shooting that left three people dead and six others injured during a block party early Saturday morning. The shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of Laura Koppe and Lockwood, where a large crowd had gathered for the event.
According to police, a white truck traveling westbound on Laura Koppe opened fire on the crowd, striking multiple people. Two men in their early 20s were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third fatality was reported later Saturday night. Six others were injured in the attack, including Keidron Taylor, who was grazed by a bullet and treated at a hospital.
Eyewitnesses described the chaotic scene as shots rang out, causing panic among partygoers. One man, working at a nearby food truck, said he watched the incident unfold just feet away from him. “I literally watched it, in front of my truck,” he told KPRC 2.
Police discovered shell casings from two different calibers at the scene, indicating multiple shooters may have been involved. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses in hopes of identifying the suspects responsible.
Longtime neighborhood resident Jerry Ross expressed deep sorrow over the violence, noting that crime has been a recurring issue in the area. “Just sad because they’re probably mothers and fathers themselves,” he said, emotionally reflecting on the lives lost.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to contact them to help bring justice to the victims and their families.
