Teen Charged with Criminal Homicide in East Nashville Shooting
NASHVILLE, TN — Metro Police have charged a 14-year-old with criminal homicide following the fatal shooting of another teen on Friday night in East Nashville.
Jeremiah Smith, 14, was arrested for the shooting death of 14-year-old Brendan Grady, which occurred outside the Parkway Terrace Apartments at 156 N. 6th Street. According to police, Smith allegedly shot Grady during an attempted robbery, in which Smith was attempting to steal a pistol from Grady.
Investigators revealed that the two teens were acquainted, and that Smith was armed at the time of the incident. Following the shooting, Smith fled the scene in a stolen Toyota Tundra pickup truck, which had been taken with the keys from Rebecca Street in East Nashville a day prior.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing as police work to gather additional details about the tragic incident.
