RebellionResearch.com is pleased to announce the appointment of a new member to our Advisory Board of Directors. We are honored to have Professor & Dr. Lin William Cong of the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business join our Advisory Board of Directors.
Professor Cong's research focuses on dynamic corporate finance and information economics. His academic interests include financial innovation and technology, real options, mechanism and information design, entrepreneurial finance, market functionality and imperfections, China's economy and financial system, statistical learning, quantimental investment, and asset management. His work has been recognized with a number of accolades such as the Shmuel Kandel Award in Financial Economics and Finance Theory Group Paper Award. He was also a gold medalist in various international and national Math contests, science and engineering fairs, and Math, Physics, and Chemistry Olympiads.
Professor Cong was a former doctoral fellow at the Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies, a George Shultz Scholar at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, and an academic committee member for the International Physics Olympiad. Cong serves as an advisor for the Wall Street Blockchain Alliance (non-profit) and a member of the Finance Theory Group, American Economic Association, American Finance Association, European Finance Association, Society of Financial Studies, Western Finance Association, the Econometric Society. He currently referees for The American Economic Review, Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Management Science, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Journal of Economic Theory, and Journal of Political Economy.
Cong earned a Ph.D. in finance and a MS in statistics from Stanford University, where he served as the president of Ph.D. students, completed introductory Japanese, and received the Asian American Award for Graduate Leadership, as well as the Lieberman Fellowship for outstanding contributions in research, teaching, and university service. He also holds dual degrees from Harvard University where he graduated summa cum laude and top in the Physics department, with an A.M. in physics, an A.B. in math & physics, a minor in economics, and a language citation in French.
Cong is a native of Shenyang, China. Outside his research and teaching, Cong practices Chinese calligraphy, and enjoys reading, sports, cross fitness, guitar, as well as learning French and Japanese. Cong is also passionate about education, China-U.S. relations, technology innovations, and integrating quantitative and fundamental approaches to investments and asset management, to which he coined the term "Quantimental Investing".
