Local Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle in Lansing Township
LANSING TWP. — Billy Joe Hicks, 43, a familiar face in the Lansing Township community, was tragically killed last week after being struck by a vehicle on Homer Street. Hicks, who had been living in the area and frequently visited local businesses to use their amenities, was standing at or near the curb on the east side of Homer Street, north of Vine Street, when the accident occurred.
The incident took place around 3:30 p.m. on August 7, when a Ford F-150 pickup truck, after colliding with a Chevrolet Traverse at the intersection of Homer and Vine Streets, veered off the road and struck Hicks. Despite efforts to save him, Hicks was later pronounced dead at U-M Health-Sparrow Hospital.
