In a shocking and tragic event in Tijeras, New Mexico, a 24-year-old man, Adlai Mestre, has been charged with the murder of his family on Sunday, October 13, 2024. Deputies from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) responded to a call at 55 Young Road after a neighbor, who also acted as the family’s landlord, reported concerns. Upon arrival, Mestre was detained, and without prompting, he confessed to killing his family and attempting to bury them.

Deputies discovered the bodies of his father Raymundo, 46, mother Bertha, 51, and 17-year-old sister Breille in a ravine near the house. Mestre admitted that he had killed them in the home, dragged their bodies outside, and attempted to clean up the crime scene. The victims were reportedly shot and possibly stabbed, with a knife and meat tenderizer hammer found at the scene.

Mestre also confessed to shooting the family dog, claiming it was “ravenous.” The dog had to be euthanized due to its injuries.

In the BCSO interview room, Mestre made disturbing claims about “seismic waves” and other delusional statements, even managing to escape through a hole he punched in the wall before being recaptured by deputies. He is now facing multiple charges, including three counts of first-degree murder, extreme cruelty to animals, and escape from custody.
