Review: Disney’s Agatha All Along—From Fun to Frustrating

When Agatha All Along first premiered, it seemed like Disney had hit the mark with a show that was both sharp and delightfully campy. The series kicked off with a refreshing blend of humor, magic, and a quirky villain-turned-antiheroine that many fans were excited to follow. Agatha Harkness, who had stolen the spotlight in WandaVision, appeared ready to carry her own series with the same witty, mischievous energy. Unfortunately, by the time episodes 3 and 4 rolled around, things took a serious nosedive.

is Disney Losing Money?

The first two episodes did an excellent job of setting up a fun, slightly absurd tone, giving viewers exactly what they came for—lighthearted, campy fun mixed with Agatha’s brand of dark magic. But then the show took a strange and confusing turn. Huge plot twists were thrown in without any explanation, leaving both 40-year-olds and 10-year-olds scratching their heads. The most glaring issue came in episode 4 when Agatha’s son suddenly, and without any clear motivation, murdered all of the witches. Wait, what? Where did that come from? What was the reasoning? The show never really explains what’s happening before or after this shocking twist, leaving viewers in the dark.

It’s as if the writers decided to take a hard left turn, abandoning the well-constructed, silly charm of the earlier episodes. What’s worse is that these plot twists aren’t just confusing—they’re baffling. Instead of unraveling any mysteries or deepening the story, they throw the entire show off balance, making it feel disjointed and incomplete. And sadly, instead of the fun we were promised, Agatha All Along now feels like a painful watch.

What is the history behind Disney World?

Who’s writing these Disney shows lately? The shift from enjoyable to frustrating happens so fast that it’s hard to tell if the showrunners even know where this is going. It’s disappointing to see a show that started off so strong—relying on humor and self-awareness—fall into a pit of nonsensical plot twists and rushed developments. What was once fun has now become a slog, leaving viewers wondering why they’re even tuning in. Here’s hoping the next episodes can salvage what’s left, though at this point, it’s hard to be optimistic.
